Make a Donation

Q: Where will my donation go?

A: All donations to Menelik Education’s Goma Volcano Fund will support immediate and long-term relief and recovery work after the volcanic eruption. Initially, the fund will help provide shelter and a safe haven to children, young girls, and other vulnerable groups. It will their immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, hygiene products, and security. Once initial relief work is complete, the fund will transition to support longer-term recovery efforts run by local partners, vetted organisations in the community.

Q: Why does Menelik Education have a locally-led approach to disaster recovery?

A: Generally, we believe indigenous organisations are best positioned to assess and respond to needs in the long term. Our view is that by doing so we do not create dependency and together with our partners we can nimbly and effectively provide for immediate and ongoing community needs. Getting funds to them benefits communities directly and quickly.

As a charity, we rely on donations to help support our projects and work with the community we are seeking to help. Your donation will play a vital role in supporting our continuing work.

You are the reason we can continue to deliver projects such as our Work Skills for vulnerable groups in the community.

When you proceed to the next step of your donation, we’ll transfer you to our BANK secure site where they will handle your personal and financial details safely and securely.

Change a life today. Please consider donating £5 or £10 a month and help us reach more families who are unable to send their kids to school. This year in the D.R.Congo, over 70% of children have been unable to go to school. We consider this to be a great disaster for the future of the country.

Menelik Education and its partners have joined forces to make sure at least some children go to school. But the need is so great that our contribution is only a drop in the ocean. Your donation will without a doubt help us improve lives, here are some examples:

£10 will provide a month’s worth of paper, pens, pencils, and books for an entire classroom of children. For many children in the DR Congo, this is a luxury and Menelik Education is very proud to be playing a major part in the education system in this great country.

£25 will enable us to extend our school programmes and introduce some basic adult education programmes to promote literacy and numeracy among women and teach them how to establish and maintain small businesses.

£100 will enable us to establish a small-scale sustainable community project, creating jobs for the community, bringing household security, enhanced health in the community, and a meaningful future for adults, youths, and children.
